Ocie Lewis born on December 10,1927 to Ocie Lewis Sr. and Clara Ford in Cecil ,Alabama. He was the second child of seven born of their union. In 1939 he was baptized at St. Paul Church in Waugh, Alabama. He Graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Mt. Meigs, Alabama in 1944. He married Mildred Milton in August 1946 at the age of eighteen; in this reunion they had 4 children. For 40 years Ocie worked for Consolidated Edison in New York where he rose through the ranks and retired as a Dispatcher in 1990. He was a Free Mason of the John H. Smith Lodge #55 under the jurisdiction of the M.W King Solomon Grand Lodge of New York, Ocie served his community by working as an Auxiliary Police Officer for many years in Brooklyn , New York. He served his church community in the office of Trustee at the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church for many years; afterwards he faithfully attended Cedar of Lebanon Baptist Church in Brooklyn, New York until his health failed in 2006. Anyone that knew Ocie would agree that he enjoyed life to the fullest. He love to grow vegetables for his family and loved to tell off colorful jokes. On March 28,2007 ,Ocie was granted relief from the stresses and worries of this world, leaving the desire to leave his living legacy to empower and impact all people to pursue their education.
